Etsy: intellectual property violation: what the notice means and how to structure your appeal
Listings reported as infringing IP; repeated reports can lead to suspension.
Appeal key points
- Resolve the cause first (open cases, balances, violating listings) before appealing.
- In the Appeals Center: choose the reason, describe the actions you have taken, and how your practices will change.
- Show you understand the specific Etsy policy involved (House Rules, Prohibited Items, Creativity Standards, IP Policy).
- Be transparent and forthcoming; attach documents that support the appeal.
- All evidence you submit must be genuine and unaltered. Never create, edit or backdate invoices or documents.
- Do not open a new or second account to get around a suspension; all three platforms prohibit this.
Evidence checklist
- List of removed listings
- Proof of original work or licences
- Description of design-checking process
Where to appeal and deadline
Temporary suspensions: fix the stated issue in Shop Manager. Permanent suspensions: Etsy Appeals Center.
Etsy: a permanent suspension can be appealed within 6 months of the suspension date, after resolving the cause; a decision can take up to two weeks (Etsy Help).
