Order Defect Rate (ODR) above target: what the notice means and how to structure your appeal
Amazon's target is an ODR below 1%; ODR includes A-to-z Guarantee claims, chargebacks and negative feedback.
Appeal key points
- Break down which defects (A-to-z claims, chargebacks, negative feedback) drove the rate and why.
- Address the exact issue named in the notice, not a general account review.
- Root cause: state specifically what caused the problem, in short factual bullet points.
- Corrective actions: list what you have ALREADY done, with dates and the affected ASINs/orders.
- Preventive measures: describe the systems or process changes that stop it recurring.
- Be concise and objective; no emotional pleas, no blaming Amazon or buyers.
- Attach supporting evidence for every item under review and highlight the relevant parts (ASINs, supplier details).
- All evidence you submit must be genuine and unaltered. Never create, edit or backdate invoices or documents.
- Do not open a new or second account to get around a suspension; all three platforms prohibit this.
Evidence checklist
- List of affected order IDs and the defect type for each
- Shipping/tracking records for affected orders
- Customer messages showing resolution
- Process documents for new QC / customer service steps
