Intellectual property: trademark complaint: what the notice means and how to structure your appeal
Rights-owner complaints about trademark use; these are tied to specific ASINs.
Appeal key points
- Name the complaint ID/ASIN and the rights owner.
- Show you are authorised, or that the listing was removed and why it will not recur.
- Consider whether a retraction from the rights owner is available.
- Root cause: state specifically what caused the problem, in short factual bullet points.
- Corrective actions: list what you have ALREADY done, with dates and the affected ASINs/orders.
- Preventive measures: describe the systems or process changes that stop it recurring.
- Be concise and objective; no emotional pleas, no blaming Amazon or buyers.
- Attach supporting evidence for every item under review and highlight the relevant parts (ASINs, supplier details).
- All evidence you submit must be genuine and unaltered. Never create, edit or backdate invoices or documents.
- Do not open a new or second account to get around a suspension; all three platforms prohibit this.
Evidence checklist
- Complaint ID and rights owner contact
- Invoices / authorisation from the brand
- Retraction from the rights owner if obtained
- Evidence listings were removed or corrected
